Pre-Trip Post I

Since the Bookshop has provided me less stimulation than necessary for my overly caffienated brain, I have decided to post a prologue to my journey. Basically I would like to give a preview and lineup for my time there. I will flying out of JFK on Aug. 11 landing in Heathrow 7 hours later, with a 3 hour layover and then flying to Istanbul, which is a 3 hour flight. While in Istanbul I will be staying the dorms of Istanbul Technical University which is on the eastern side of the Bosphorus. I will be touring Istanbul and practicing the Turkish language there for approximately 3 weeks and somewhere around the first weekend in September me and the Global Partners crew will head on a bus tour that will include but will not be limited to the following cities: Gallipoli, Troy, Assos, Priene, Pergamon, Sardis, Ephessos and Afyon. Mostly an Ancient Greek themed adventure on our way to the capital of Ankara where I will begin my studies at Bilkent University somewhere in the middle of September. I intend to update this blog as often as possible during my trip, but probably less frequently during the school session. I'll probably take some day or weekend trips from Ankara while I'm there and more blogging will occur then. Well, that just about sets everything up, you'll all hear from me later with more specifics, and probably my rant as to how excited I am the week leading up to the trip.
